Holiday Mountain Events and Festivals
Crowns of white ice follow the skyline
along mountain ridges, welcoming the season of holiday joy. In the central
to northern Blue Ridge Mountains, snow will fall bringing ski enthusiast
to the mountain towns and slopes, to the south the mountain winter climate
is tempered with mild weather, with only an occasional dusting of snow.
The winter season is a surreal visual
to behold. The lush forests have shed their leaves bringing about a sense
of bareness and solitude. Ice forms along mountain ridges with light snows
dusting deep within the valleys. The rush of fair weather tourists have
slipped away leaving the sights and sounds of the quiet mountain times
to those who know how to take advantage of the peaceful winter season.
Each year the Blue Ridge Mountains become
a spectacle of lights and holiday decorations, from the illuminated Christmas
scenes of on old town squares to the twinkling of colored lights on a
distant mountainside.
With the coming of each winter holiday
season the Blue Ridge Highlander would like to share with its readers
a virtual experience, taking you into a festival of holiday celebration
within the Blue Ridge Mountain province. We hope you enjoy our holiday
features as we at the Blue Ridge Highlander wish you and your family
a Prosperous New Year.
