The county is located in the mountains of Western North Carolina and is home to the following communities: Brevard, Balsam Grove, Cedar Mountain, Lake Toxaway, Pisgah Forest and Rosman. These communities are rich in arts and culture. The mountains are a natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts. Pisgah National Forest, Gorges State Park and DuPont State Forest are all located in Transylvania County. They are perfect for picnicking, camping, fishing, biking, hiking, canoing and tubing.
