Jackson County Outdoor Adventure and Points of Interest
A large variety of outdoor adventures in Jackson County are available from early spring into late fall, as are several choices for winter recreation, including regional snow skiing. From golfing on fairways that seem to disappear into a mountain to bass fishing on what seems to be an endless number of lakes both large and small, you'll never get bored in Jackson County.
Fly-fishing along the Tuckasegee River and the many creeks and streams almost seems effortless with the bounty of fish available. Then there are the back-wood trails for backpacking adventures, local campgrounds and RV parks, plus hiking, mountain biking, ATV trails, bird watching, horseback riding, climbing and repelling, white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and a multitude of waterfalls that cover nearly every corner of the county.
Scenic driving tours and byways are popular, and the Jackson County area has some of, if not the finest scenic byways east of the Rockies. All this abundance awaits the outdoor enthusiast looking to explore Jackson County's Nantahala National Forest, the neighboring Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or the renowned Blue Ridge Parkway.
