Blue Ridge GA - Live Music is Better presents Bergonzi String Quartet
Since 1992, the Bergonzi String Quartet has been Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where all four performers are faculty members: Scott Flavin (violin), Evija Ozolias (violin), Chauncey Patterson (viola) and Ross Harbaugh (cello). Prior to joining the Quartet, the four members were part of the New World, Pro Arte, Miami, and Ellis String Quartets, and have collective performing experience with concerts through-out Europe, U.K., North and South America, New Zealand, and Asia. The quartet performs masterworks, premieres, new compositions, and presents original repertoire, in programming that delight audiences around the globe. It has released seven recordings.
Over this weekend they will perform An American Story. An American Story follows couples through time, all connected to this beautiful nation we all call home. Our story starts with Mike and Karen, a young couple living in modern day Appalachia. When they stumble across a chest filled with letters from Karen's great-great grandfather from the 1800's, they begin a delve into her family history, and uncover timeless tales of romance and wanderlust, stories of insurmountable challenges and unstoppable determination, but most importantly, the story of America and her proud, free people. Through a series of vignettes between beautiful compositions, we follow Karen's ancestry first hand as these letters lost to the ages come to life before the audience.
