Contra & Square Dance - Scott Russell w/ Windmill
Scott Russell has been a significant caller, musician and organizer on the Atlanta contra dance scene for many years. He's featured in the Learn to Contra Dance series on Youtube.
Windmill is comprised of Steve Trismen and Laurie Fisher.
Steve Trismen started playing violin in grade school and has been improvising in folk and jazz styles since his college days in upstate New York. He lived for 16 years in Boulder, Colorado playing with Country , Cajun, and Rock dance bands. Living now in Weaverville, North Carolina, he is a member of the rock group Jupiter Coyote, acoustic swing group One Leg Up, and contra dance duo Windmill.
Perennial musician, fiddler Laurie Fisher has been playing and calling for contradances since 1983. Her band The String Beings was featured at dance weekends and contra tours throughout the nineties. She also performs on fiddle and other instruments in Swing, Cajun, Celtic and other stage shows. She provides the motive force for Windmill?s energetic traditional contradance sound on piano or keyboard. In addition she teaches music lessons (Folk school later this year). She also created and produced the Asheville Contradance and the Asheville Summer Soiree until retiring from dance production in 2003.
