Are you up for the challenge? The final event of the Lake Lure Olympiad takes place right here in Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. Run or jog up the 3.2-mile park road and be rewarded with a stunning view of Lake Lure and the Blue Ridge foothills.
After a year of rebuilding following Hurricane Helene, the Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad is proud to return in 2026 with a renewed purpose — Run for Recovery, August 14–16.
Registration is now open for two of the Gorge’s most iconic races:
Slam the Dam 10K
Race to the Rock 5K — the unforgettable climb up, up, UP to the top of Chimney Rock
In addition to the races, the weekend will also feature a Golf Tournament at Rumbling Bald Resort, bringing athletes, families, and the community together to celebrate resilience, connection, and progress.
The full Lake Lure Olympiad — including the triathlon — is planned to return in 2027, aligning with the 100th anniversary of the Town of Lake Lure. It will be a milestone year worth celebrating together. For now, we invite you to lace up, challenge yourself, and be part of something meaningful.
