Ammons Branch
Facilities: hiking, restrooms available.
Season: Year round.
Directions: From Highlands, follow Main Street east out of town about 4.5 miles through Horse Cove. When Pavement ends, bear right on Bull Pen Road, and go 1.5 miles.
Blue Valley
Facilities: hiking, restrooms available.
Season: Year round.
Directions: From Highlands, follow NC 28 south 5.5 miles. Turn right at sign.
Hurricane Creek
Facilities: Picnics, fishing and hiking, restrooms available.
Season: March 15th to January 1st.
Directions: Go south from Standing Indian on FR 67 (gravel) for 2 miles.
Standing Indian
Facilities: Picnic shelter, popular hiking trails, including several that connect to Appalachian Trail. .
Directions: From Franklin, take US 64 west for 9 miles, turn left on old US 64 and follow signs.
Van Hook Glade
Facilities: hiking, restrooms available.
Season: May 1st to October 31st.
Directions: From Highlands, take US 64 west for 4 miles, turn right at sign. |
