The 84,000+ acre Andrew Pickens District, named for General Andrew Pickens, is located in the northwestern corner (Oconee County) of South Carolina known as the golden triangle. It serves as a getaway to the mountains of South Carolina known as the golden triangle. It serves as a gateway to the mountains of South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. The Andrew Pickens District is part of the Sumter National Forest.
