Hiwassee and Ocoee Rivers State Park
Tennessee has long been recognized for its scenic beauty and outstanding recreational opportunities. a new dimension has been added with the development of world-class white water rafting and canoeing on the Hiwassee and Ocoee Rivers
Hiwassee Scenic River State Park and the adjacent Ocoee River Recreation Area are fast becoming internationally recognized white-water sites, both for recreational purposes and for national and international competitions.
The Ocoee River was he whitewater venue for the 1996 Olympics and was the only Olympic venue outside the Georgia. It is also listed among the top ten whitewater rivers in the country.
The Forestry Service, Tennessee Valley Authority, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation manage the lands for maximum natural and recreational use. The Hiawassee was the first river managed under the state's scenic river program.

Directions from Chattanooga: I-75 North, to Cleveland-US 64E. Exit Travel East on US 64 to Hwy. 441 North. the Park is located 6 miles North of Benton.
Directions from Knoxville: I-75 South to the Athens exit. Take Hwy 30 East to Etowah. Take Hwy. 441 South. the Park is located 6 miles South of Etowah
