The Blue Ridge Highlander is actually a husband and wife team, Wayne and Sherry Dukes. We were both born in the south, but grew up in Chicago. We have been in business for ourselves in advertising, marketing, public relations and publishing since 1977.

We realized our dream when we moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1995. Moving to the mountains is one thing, finding your way is another. In searching for our way in this new territory, we discoved the internet as a viable publishing platform in 1996, and found a new means of expression. We started developing the Highlander on-line travel magazine in 1996, and it has grown to be an amazing platform for communicating with the world, and letting so many know how great these mountains are and what all they have to offer.
